Introduction to the JSS Alumni Association

The JSS Alumni Association (JSSAA) is an integral part of the JSS family. As a valued partner of our school, the Alumni Association is dedicated to serving our alumni and supporting our school’s programs and development.

The JSS Alumni Association also organises events to build camaraderie amongst alumni of JSS. Key events include the yearly golf tournament, the Chinese New Year Dinner, and alumni basketball tournament. Other ad hoc events include bowling competitions and movie screenings.

In recent years, the JSS Alumni Association has graciously sponsored the Alumni Book Prizes to students who have performed well academically, and the Alumni Sports Excellence Award to student athletes who have excelled in sporting events at the National level.

In addition, the JSS Alumni Association also supported the school in major school programme and facilities such as the sponsorship of the school gym, Food Donation Drive for Needy Families in Taman Jurong, Sec 4 Career Seminar, DSA Science Communication and Research (SCoRe), JSS 60th School Anniversary (Past vs Present Games) and 60th School Anniversary (Dinner). These continued contributions demonstrate the JSS Alumni Association’s high level of commitment to the holistic development of JSS students.

Aims and Objectives

Based on the constitution, the objectives of the alumni are:

• To forge school ties and community involvement between Jurong Secondary School and its former pupils;
• To provide members with the opportunity to help develop the school for the benefit of the students;
• To encourage the spirit of volunteerism among members and,
• For members, as a fraternity, to offer and provide expertise and resources.

Joining the JSS Alumni Association

Types of membership

Life membership may be conferred on any Ordinary Member upon the payment of a one-time subscription fee as decided and prescribed by the Committee from time to time. Life Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of an Ordinary Member, including the rights to vote and to hold office in the Alumni Association.

Honorary Membership may be conferred by the Alumni on such persons distinguished by service to the school as the Committee may be in any case considered appropriate. Honorary Members shall have no rights to vote or hold office in the Alumni Association.

Associate Membership may be conferred by the Alumni, upon application, on school staff, parents of all former students (alumni) and on such persons who, in the opinion of the Committee, are related to the school and/ or would contribute to the furtherance of the objectives of the Alumni. Associate Members shall have no rights to vote and to hold office in the Alumni Association.

Ordinary membership is open to all who are graduates of the school, provided that they are not currently attending Secondary Schools, Centralised Institutes or Junior Colleges. All Ordinary Members above 18 years of age shall have the rights to vote and to hold office in the Alumni Association.
